When you have experienced trauma or PTSD, the idea of seeking therapy can sometimes feel as overwhelming as the trauma itself. Traditional talking therapies often require you to sit in a chair and verbally relive the most painful moments of your life, week after week. If the thought of that makes you hesitate to get help, you are not alone.
At my office in Folkestone, I take a different approach. My primary focus is to ensure you feel genuinely safe. We only process what happened if it is absolutely relevant; more importantly, we work to leave that old emotional baggage exactly where it belongs (in the past!) so you can finally move forward and live the life you so richly deserve.
If you are wondering what actually happens when we work together, here is what you can expect from a trauma hypnotherapy session.
1. You Do Not Have to Relive the Details
One of the biggest misconceptions about trauma therapy is that you must verbally unpack every single detail of the event. With hypnotherapy, you don’t. We work directly with your subconscious mind to process the emotional weight of the memory and disconnect the “fight or flight” panic response. You can heal without having to continuously re-traumatise yourself by talking about it.
2. A Calm, Unhurried Space
Traditional therapy often stops the clock at 50 minutes, sometimes just as you are beginning to process something heavy. My sessions last approximately 90 minutes. This provides a calm, unhurried environment for you to safely explore the issue and for us to work at a pace that respects your nervous system.
3. Rewiring the Alarm System
Trauma leaves your brain’s alarm system stuck in the “on” position, leaving you constantly on high alert or triggering dreadful panic attacks. Hypnosis is typically experienced as a state of deep, focused relaxation. In this state, we gently help your subconscious recognise that the traumatic event is safely in the past, allowing your mind and body to finally stand down and work together instead of against each other.
4. Focused, Cost-Effective Relief
Because we are rewiring responses at a subconscious level, change often happens much faster than people expect. For deeply rooted issues like trauma or PTSD, I typically recommend the 3-Session Package. We leave about 10 days to two weeks between sessions, giving your mind the necessary breathing room to settle and integrate these new, calmer thought patterns into your daily life.
Taking the First Step
Reaching out for help is a massive step. As a neurodivergent individual, I know the importance of finding a space where you feel completely understood. My practice provides a judgment-free, LGBTQ+ friendly, and inclusive environment for everyone.
Therapy should be stress-free from the start. Before you pay a single penny, we will have a free, no-pressure chat over the phone or Zoom to discuss what you have been experiencing.
You do not have to stay stuck in the past. Sessions are available face-to-face at the Folkestone Business Hub, or online from anywhere in the world.
